The Directorate for Special Permanent Committees is responsible for Special Permanent Committees, the Committee for Public Utilities, Committees on issues of national significance, the Committee for the Parliament’s internal affairs and any committees established in line with articles 144 and 156 of the Standing Orders, as well as for the rest of the committees that are provided for in the statutes or may be established by the Speaker or the Parliament.
The Directorate for Special Permanent Committees consists of two organizational units:
Α) Division Α΄
Β) Division Β΄
Α) Division Α΄

Division A’ is in charge of the Special Permanent Committees -except for the Special Permanent Committee on Institutions and Transparency, as well as for subcommittees thereof.
The Division:
- Ensures that the President of the Committee or the subcommittee decides on sittings to be held;
- Sets the order of the day for the Committee or the subcommittees and sends copies of the order of the day to appropriate Ministries as well as to individuals or bodies they invite for their hearings to get up to date information or help in their work
- Provides support services for committee and subcommittee sittings and assistance to the President;
- Drafts a report for the committee or the subcommittee and makes sure it is printed and delivered as well as forwarded to the appropriate Ministers or bodies.
The Department is also responsible for the Committee on Public Utility enterprises, Banks Institutions of Public Utility and Social Security Agencies, for committees on issues of national significance or general affairs, the Committee on Parliament’s Internal Affairs as well as other committees that may be established either by the Parliament or by the Speaker’s decision or suggestion, unless otherwise specified in the decision on the establishment thereof.
The Department:
- Ensures that the Speaker of the Parliament and the Chair of the Committee decide on upcoming sittings;
- Drafts the order of the day for the Committee on state-owned enterprises, banks, utilities and social security agencies;
- Makes sure that the Presidents in the other Committees decide on upcoming sittings and set the agenda which is then forwarded to Committee members, the appropriate Minister and those individuals who are invited to speak before the Committee to assist it in its work or for the sake of providing it with topical information;
- Provides support services during the sittings of every Committee and assists the President thereof;
- Drafts committee reports and sends them to the appropriate Minister.

Division B’ is in charge of for the Special Permanent Committee on Institutions and Transparency, Investigation committees and ad hoc parliamentary committees established with a view to conducting a preliminary investigation according to art.156 of the Standing Orders.
Similarly to Division A’, Division B also
- Ensures that the President of the Committee or the subcommittee decides on sittings to be held;
- Sets the order of the day for the Committee or the subcommittees and sends copies of the order of the day to appropriate Ministries as well as to individuals or bodies they invite for their hearings to get up to date information or help in their work
- Provides support services for committee and subcommittee sittings and assistance to the President;
- Drafts a report on the findings or the conclusions of the committee or the subcommittee and makes sure it is printed and forwarded to the appropriate Ministers or bodies.
