The
Directorate for Standing Committees is responsible for the formation, the operations and the support of the function of Standing Committees, the Committee on the Financial Statement and the General Balance Sheet of the State and the Select (or Special) Committees of the Hellenic Parliament (under articles 31 to 43 and 89 through 91 of the Standing Orders).
The Standing Committees Directorate consists of three Departments:
Division A’ is responsible for the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, Production and Trade and its subcommittees, as well as the Committee on the state annual report and accounts, the balance sheet and budget implementation.
Division A’
- Forwards Bills, Law Proposals and amendments for examination by the Committee;
- Ensures that the President of the Committee appoints the Committee’s spokesmen, it determines sessions, it drafts the order of the day in committees and subcommittees, and sends copies of the order of the day to the appropriate Ministries as well as to individuals the Committee invites for its hearings;
- Provides support services for committee and subcommittee sittings and assistance to the President;
- Drafts a report for the committee or the subcommittee and makes sure it is printed and delivered.

Division B’ is responsible for the Standing Committees on Cultural and Educational Affairs, on Defense and Foreign Affairs on Social Affairs, on the Standing Committee of Public Administration, Public Order and Justice, and their subcommittees. The division is also responsible for those Select Committees that discuss a Bill according to article 42 of the Standing Orders.
Similarly to Division A’, Division B also
- Forwards Bills, Law Proposals and amendments for examination by the Committee;
- Ensures that the President of the Committee appoints the Committee’s spokesmen, it determines sessions, it drafts the order of the day in committees and subcommittees, and sends copies of the order of the day to the appropriate Ministries as well as to individuals the Committee invites for its hearings;
- Provides support services for committee and subcommittee sittings and assistance to the President;
- Drafts a report for the committee or the subcommittee and makes sure it is printed and delivered.
C) Department for Committee Minutes

The Committee Minutes and Secretarial Support Committee is in charge of:
- Parliamentary committee or subcommittee sittings’ minutes by virtue of the Parliament’s Standing Orders (Parliamentary section and chapters) and reports on what takes place during those sittings, unless otherwise stated in the decision of their establishment.
- Keeps transcripts of the part of the debate the minute-makers have recorded.
- Attaches to the minutes any document that might have been read during sessions, it attaches any amendment, addendum or request as well as anything that may help depict in the best possible manner what takes place in a sitting.
- The immediate supply of texts and documents that may have been attached, to the relevant directorates of parliamentary committees.
- Enters by electronic means to the minutes of parliamentary committee or subcommittee sittings, corrections made by the Secretary of the Committee or the subcommittee.
- Merges in a single text and files the minutes of every sitting.
- The supply of final texts as they have been corrected to the relevant directorates of parliamentary committees.
- Is in charge of editing printed minutes of Standing Committee sittings whenever they are involved in legislative activities.
