Standing Committee on Public Administration, Public Order and Justice, the Committee on Parliamentary
Procedure, and the Committee for the Revision of the Constitution. Member of the NATO Parliamentary
Assembly Committee on Inter-Atlantic Co-operation on Defence and Security.
Activités politiques/sociales
Deputy Foreign Minister since 23-01-2002 to 10-03-2004. Secretary General of the Ministry for the Interior,
Public Administration and Decentralisation, 09-09-1996 to 09-12-1997. In this post, he participated in the
implementation of the I. Kapodistrias programme for the merger of communities and municipalities, and
the introduction of the Ombudsman. Chairman of the committee that drew up the new Civil Service Code,
and the committee for drawing up and implementing the new law on sports. Appointed associate
Professor of Panteion University in 1995; he had been lecturing there since 1987. Participated in the anti-
dictatorship struggle within the Antidiktatoriki EFEE (National Union of Students against Dictatorship). Vice-
president of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Union of Law Students (1975-1977). President of the
Union of Greek students in Belgium (1980-1982). Author of many papers and books on political systems,
the workings of state institutions, fundamental rights, and the modern political history of Greece.
