- Married to the educator Demetra Kachtitsi, he is the father of two: George, a graduate of Law and Social
Science from the Universities of Athens and Paris respectively and Melina, a law student.

- A practicing lawyer for thirty years, he served as President of the Pyrgos Bar Association and is a member of
the Hellenic Society of Criminalists.
- Studies:
- He studied Law at the University of Athens (LLB) and holds a graduate degree (D.Ε.Α.) in Social Justice from
the University PARIS X-NANTERRE, a graduate degree in Law from the Center of European Studies of the
University PARIS I (PΑΝΤΗΕΟΝ) and a degree (LICENSE) in Sociology from the University PARIS X-NANTERRE.

Parliamentary Activities
He was elected M.P. for Ileia (New Democracy) in the elections of 2007, 2009 and 2011.
Mr. Tzavaras
served as a member in several Committees of the Hellenic Parliament, such as the Standing Committee on
Cultural and Educational Affairs, the Standing Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs, the
Intergroup Committee on examining the Penitentiary System and the Living Conditions of the Detained
Persons, the Special Permanent Committee on Road Safety, the Investigation Committee on the Vatopedi
Monastery case, the Standing Committee on Public Administration, Public Order and Justice, the Special
Permanent Committee of Parliamentary Ethics, as well as the Investigation Committee on the “Siemens”
case.
Political/Social Activities
On June 21, 2012 he was appointed Alternate Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, Culture and Athletics.
He served as New Democracy’s Parliamentary Spokesperson (2009) and the party’s Sector Head for Justice
(2011).
