Activités parlementaires

She was elected for the first time a member of the Parliament in the 2nd Constituency of Piraeus in the elections of 2004, replacing Giannis Patsilinakos, in November 2005. She was also elected in 2007 and 2009.
She participated in the Parliament Standing Committee on Cultural and Educational Affairs, in the Committee on Research and Technology, as well as in the Special Committees for Disabled People and for Immigrants.

Activités politiques/sociales

She is a member of the Central Committee of KKE.
She became a member of Labrakis youth organization when she was in High School. Afterwards she became a member of KKE.
She studied economics in Budapest and she had been the General Secretary of the Greek Students’ Association.
Due to her anti-dictatorship activity as a student, the junta regime deprived her of her passport.
After the political changeover, returning in Greece, she was one of the establishing members of the Democratic Women’s Association of Piraeus and she played a leading role in the development of the Greek Women’s Movement.
In 1978 she was elected a member of the Municipal Council in the Municipality of Nikaia. For 3 mayoralties she was a Vice-mayor. She was the Mayor from 1990 to 1994, a member of the Municipal Council, in the head of the Municipal Party from 1995 to 2002 and a member of the Committee of Regions of the EU from 1994 to 2002.
During her term of office in the Local Government she was the Chairwoman as well as a member of many local associations, of the cultural center, of legal entries, of municipal and inter-municipal enterprises. Moreover, she was a member of the executive secretariat of TEDKNA and its spokeswoman to the General Hospital of Nikaia from 1981 to 1998.
She has been actively participating in the peace movement since the year 2000. She is the General Secretary of EEDYE (Greek Committee for International Détente and Peace).
