Joined Politiki Anoixi (“Political Spring”) in 1993. Served his military service in the Alexandroupoli Military
Hospital (1991-1992) and his rural service in Kefalovrysso, Ioannina (1993-1994). He worked for IKA, the
Social Security Institution (1998-1999) and in the Orthopaedic Clinic of the University of Patras. Appointed
lecturer in Medicine at the University of Athens in 1999. Doctor for several sports associations: the
national weight-lifting team; Esperos Kallithea, a first-division basketball team; Ethnikos Asteras, a first-
division football team; and Asteras Nafpaktos, a third-division football team. Worked for the AEK football
team (1998-1999). Chairman of the 15-member council of the Amfilochia Lyceum, 1985. Chairman of the
International Relations and Medical Student Exchange Committee at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
in 1988. Chairman of the Student Blood Donors’ Group at the 1st and 2nd Panhellenic Conferences of
Medical Students in 1989; on the Panhellenic Scientific Association of Medical Students and Young Medical
Practitioners in 1990; and represented the Group on the Federation of Primary Healthcare Practitioners in
1993. Participant in the “Application of expert mediators in medical education” research programme.
Presented papers at 45 Greek and foreign medical congresses, and has published 8 research papers in
Greek and foreign specialist journalists. Received 1st prize at the Panhellenic Orthopaedic Party
Conference in Rhodes, 1985, an award of the 3rd Panhellenic Scientific Party Conference of Medical
Students in 1993; and an honourary degree from the Organ Donors’ Union. Member of many medical
societies and one of the founders of the Alexandroupoli Medical Research Institute in 1988. Alternate
member responsible for the Olympic Games section and ND party officer responsible for monitoring the
work of the Athletic Federation and the National First Aid Centre (EKAB).
