Archives

The Library administrates the Parliamentary Collection (The Historical and Modern Parliamentary Archives) making the records of the Parliament accessible to all.

The historic archives, the modern archives and the photographic archive are also held by the Library.

The historic archives include public and state documents from the 19th and the 20th century, as well as personal archives of historical personalities of the same period. The richest archival collection of public and state documents deals with the Greek Revolution and the Ioannis Kapodistrias government period and have been published in a separate set of 25 volumes in the series Archives of the Greek Regeneration [Resurgence]. Of special importance among other documents are the oath protocols of the kings and the presidents of the Hellenic Republic, as well as older documents, including The New Political Administration (E Nea Politike Dioikesis), a constitutional draft proposed by Rigas Velestinlis in 1797.

The modern archives consist of personal archives of politicians whose political action has formed the modern political era, and contain as well the BBC’s Greek Programming Archives, with a selection of audio records from 1939 to 2005.

The photographic archive contains a large number of photographs, especially from official ceremonies, conferences and congresses that have taken place in the Parliament, a collection of photographs of politicians and a small number of historic photographs. Records of all exhibitions organized by the Parliament on historical and political issues are also kept and documented.
