Chair of National Defence and Foreign Affairs Committee meets with Ambassador of Lithuania to Athens

The Chair of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament Dora Bakoyannis met today with the Ambassador of Lithuania to Athens Lina Skerstonaitė.

The meeting confirmed the excellent level of friendship and cooperation between Greece and Lithuania, based on the commitment of both countries to fundamental values such as democracy and the respect for International Law.

Mrs Bakoyannis and Mrs Skerstonaitė exchanged views on the developments in the immediate and wider neighbourhood of the European Union, with emphasis on the ongoing war in Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East, expressing the hope that the conflicts do not spread to the wider region. 

The Chair of the Standing Committe on National Defence and Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador of Lithuania expressed their willingness to further strengthen bilateral parliamentary cooperation in various fields of common interest, highlighting the significance of parliamentary diplomacy in tackling multiple challenges in an especially grim global environment.
