Meeting of Chairman of Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of Hellenic Parliament with Ambassador of Georgia

The Chairman of the Standing Committee of National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament, Konstantinos Gioulekas, met today with the Ambassador of Georgia in Athens, David Dondua. 

During the meeting, Mr. Gioulekas referred to the Greek community in Georgia and the Georgian diaspora living in Greece, pointing out that the two communities strengthen the cultural and historical ties between the peoples of the two countries.

Greece, stressed Mr. Gioulekas, supports the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as its accession to the EU and NATO.

Mr. Gioulekas mentioned the provocations by Turkey and the refugee issue, highlighting that Greece seeks peace and the resolution of differences always on the basis of International Law.

Mr. Dondua expressed his appreciation for Greece’s support towards Georgia and underlined the importance his country attaches to dialogue and good cooperation.
