Preparations for Conference on Future of Europe enter final stage

In the framework of the preparations for the Conference on the Future of Europe, a teleconference was held with the participation of the Chairpersons of the European Affairs Committees of EU Parliaments. The Vice-Chair of the European Affairs Committee, MP Dimitris Kairidis, represented the Hellenic Parliament. 

In his statement Mr. Kairidis stressed the importance of the equal participation of the European Parliament and national parliaments. National parliaments, underlined the Greek MP, have both the institutional capacity and the networking that allows them to mobilise civil societies, the active engagement of which is crucial for the success of the Conference. He noted that the timing of the Conference acquires a special dimension for our country, which this year is celebrating the 200 years since the start of the Greek Revolution, but also the 40 years since its accession to the then EEC.
