Plenary Session of Parliamentary Assembly of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC)
The 58th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) was held online under the Presidency of Romania. The Hellenic Parliament was represented by a parliamentary delegation, headed by Konstantinos Vlassis, which included MPs Maria Kefala, Makarios Lazaridis, Christos Giannoulis, Olympia Teligioridou and Chara Kefalidou.
In the framework of the General Assembly, Mr. Vlassis also participated in the Standing Committee meeting that preceded the Plenary Session.
During the Plenary Session, and after the agenda was adopted, the PABSEC Presidency was transferred to the Russian Federation for the first semester of 2022. Then the activities of the BSEC Organisation were presented, followed by a presentation of the Reports and Recommendations of the Committees that were subsequently voted on: a) Economic/Commercial/Financial Affairs - "Cooperation in the field of the pharmaceutical industry in the BSEC Member States", b) Legal and Political Affairs - "Fostering Digitalisation and Innovation in order to improve the Legislative Process and Transparency of Parliamentary Activity", c) Cultural/Educational/Social Affairs - "Objectives and Challenges of Cooperation in the field of Education in the Black Sea Region after the pandemic".
The Head of the Greek parliamentary delegation and member of the Legal and Political Affairs Committee commented on the Committee's report, pointing out, inter alia, the digitalisation of the work of the Hellenic Parliament, while he emphasised the progress made in digitalising the services of the Foreign Ministry during his tenure as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs competent for issues of the Greek Diaspora.
Furthermore, the report of the Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs Commitee was presented by MP Chara Kefalidou.
The work concluded with the adoption of the 2022 budget and the announcement of the date and location of the next Plenary Session in June 2022 in Russia.
