Inter-Parliamentary cooperation, geopolitical stability in the Eastern Mediterranean, economy and tourism on agenda of parliamentary delegation visiting Israel
A delegation of the Greek-Israeli Friendship Parliamentary Friendship Group, consisting of its Chair Dimitris Kairidis and its Vice Chair Olga Kefalogianni, paid an official visit to Israel, at the invitation of the Israeli Parliament (Knesset) respective Friendship Group Chair Keren Barak.
During the visit, which took place on May 9-11, the Greek delegation held meetings -at parliamentary level-, with the Chair ( Mrs Keren Barak) and members of the Knesset Israel-Greece Friendship Group, the Chairman of the Knesset Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence Ram Ben-Barak and the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel Ambassador Aliza Bin-Noun.
The Greek delegation was also received by the President of the Knesset Mickey Levy. The two sides discussed prospects of further deepening the already excellent and close bilateral relations. Views were exchanged on regional issues with emphasis on strengthening mutual and beneficial cooperation schemes in the fields of the economy and tourism.
During the visit, the Greek MPs visited the Yad Vashem Museum and laid a wreath in memory of the victims of the Holocaust; the delegation also visited the Patriarchate of Jerusalem where they had a meeting with Patriarch Theophilos III.
The Greek Ambassador to Tel Aviv Kyriakos Loukakis accompanied the delegation throughout the official visit.
