Participation of parliamentary delegation in 62nd Plenary Session of Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC)

A parliamentary delegation of the Hellenic Parliament, consisting of MPs Georgios Stylios, Vasileios Giogiakas, Christos Giannoulis, Stephanos Parastatidis and Giorgos Kotsos participated via teleconference in the 62nd Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), which took place in Kiev on the 16th and 17th of November.

Mr G. Stylios took the floor during the discussion of the main topic of the meeting, expressing Greece's unwavering support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders, based on the values of democracy and the rule of law. Any changes of the internationally recognized borders with the use of military force can never be accepted, he stated, adding that revisionism and authoritarianism cannot be tolerated. "Parliamentarians, as representatives of the citizens and the peoples, must defend and enrich the fundamental values of democracy and cooperate with the aim of peaceful coexistence," stressed Mr Stylios.

During the discussion for the filling of positions in the International Secretariat of the Assembly, Mr Christos Giannoulis, in his capacity as deputy head of the delegation, raised a point of order and defended the need to faithfully observe the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, which constitutes the foundation for its democratic operation and the harmonious cooperation of its members.
