Chairman of Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of Lebanon
The Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, Konstantinos Gioulekas, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of Lebanon, Charbel Wehbe, in the sidelines of the trilateral meeting between Greece, Cyprus and Lebanon.
During the meeting Mr. Gioulekas praised Mr. Wehbe’s contribution to building friendly relations between the two countries and affirmed Greece’s firm will to help Lebanon in dealing with problems arising from the financial crisis, which – as the Lebanese Minister said – are exacerbated by the large number of refugees it hosts.
Mr. Gioulekas also briefed Mr. Wehbe on the two major issues our country is facing, i.e. Turkey stepping up provocations to an explosive degree, and the refugee issue, stressing that Greece is in favour of dialogue, always with respect for International Law. He also underlined the importance of EU solidarity on these two issues.
For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of Lebanon underlined the importance his country attaches to dialogue for dispute resolution and peaceful coexistence.
