Greece-Moldova Friendship Group Chairman meets with Ambassador of Republic of Moldova

The Chairman of the Greece-Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group Konstantinos Maraveyas held today, Tuesday 14 February 2023, a courtesy meeting with the new Ambassador of Moldova to Athens Andrei Popov.
The two sides confirmed the long-standing harmonious relations between our countries, stressing that they are consolidated by both the historical cultural ties and the joint commitment to democracy, the concern over the developments in the conflicts in our region and the commitment to respect International Law.
Mr Maraveyas indicated the recent exchanges of visits of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups as proof of Greece's intense interest to expand cooperation in sectors that are already supported, to the benefit of both peoples.
The Chairman of the Friendship Group stated that he is willing to continue to support in every way possible the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, emphasising Greece's steadfast support to Moldova's EU integration.
In the same spirit, the Ambassador expressed a keen interest in strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, as well as commercial, economic, tourist, cultural and energy exchanges bewtween the two countries.
Reference was also made to the dynamic developed by the local societies, the Greeks who live in Moldova and the Moldovans residing in Greece, who substantively contribute to the bridge of cultural exchanges.
