Meeting of Bureaux of Greece - Poland Parliamentary Friendship Groups

The Chairwoman of the Greece – Poland Parliamentary Friendship Group Olga Kefalogianni, the Deputy Chair Christoforos-Emmanouil Boutsikakis and the Secretary Alexandros Meikopoulos met at the Hellenic Parliament, in the presence of the Ambassador of Poland in Greece Artur Lompart, with the Chairman of the Poland – Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group Daniel Milewski and a delegation from the Polish Parliament.

During the meeting the excellent bilateral relations were confirmed as well as the intention to further improve and strengthen cooperation in the sectors of the economy, tourism, culture and education.

Mrs. Kefalogiannni referred to the cooperation between the two countries and to cultivating the collective memory of the two peoples, which is the only way to form a common understanding against a future full of cross-border challenges.

She also referred to the strengthening of cooperation in a number of areas, such as contacts between business communities, investments and the tourism sector, which has been severely affected by the pandemic. She also noted that the large cultural stock of the two countries is material for cooperation in the field of tourism, such as the upcoming Greek exhibition at the Auschwitz Museum.

For his part, Mr. Milewski, who is in Greece on the occasion of the celebration of the Virgin Mary of Ostrobramska (Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn) at the Church of Agia Marina, Ilioupoli, expressed his gratitude for the welcome and the ongoing cooperation between the two parliaments, which was maintained even during the pandemic. He noted that Greece is a popular tourist destination for Polish citizens and expressed the wish to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism.    

Summing up, the two sides confirmed their mutual intention to strengthen Greek-Polish relations with future exchanges of visits and cooperation in various fields.
