Official visit to Greece of Parliament of Georgia delegation

A Georgian parliamentary delegation conducted an official visit to Athens. It comprised the Chairman of the Georgia-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group Givi Mikanadze, the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and member of the Georgia-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group Nikoloz Samkharadze and the member of the Georgia-Greece Parliamentary Friendshop Group Alexandre Rakviashvili. The delegation was invited by the Chairman of the Greece-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group Dimitrios Kouvelas. 

During the visit, which took place from 28 to 30 June 2022, the Georgian delegation held meetings, at parliamentary level, with the Deputy Chair of the European Affairs Committee Dimitrios Kairidis, the Chairman of the Greece-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group Dimitrios Kouvelas and Secretary Ioannis Delis and with a delegation of the Standing Committee on Educational Affairs, in particular the Chairman Vasileios Digalakis, Secretary Christina Alexopoulou and members Ioannis Amanatidis and Maria Athanasiou. The Georgian delegation also met with high-level officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the representative of the Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs Stefanos Gikas. 

At the centre of discussions was Georgia's NATO accession process, its keen interest to join the EU, as well as the support it has provided to Ukraine, which is facing the consequences of the Russian invasion. 

The Georgian MPs concluded their visit with a tour of the Nafplion War Museum and a meeting with the Mayor of Nafplion Dimitrios Kostouros.
