Visit by Moldovan Parliamentary Delegation

An official visit to Athens was conducted by a Moldovan parliamentary delegation, consisting of the Chairwoman of the Moldova-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group Larisa Novac and the member of the Moldova-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group Sergiu Lazarencu, following an invitation by the Chairman of the Greece-Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group Konstantinos Maraveyas. 

During the visit, which took place from the 4th to the 6th of July 2022, the Moldovan delegation held meetings, at parliamentary level, with the Chairman of the Greece-Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group Konstantinos Maraveyas, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Educational Affairs Vasileios Digalakis and with a delegation form the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, ie the Deputy Chair Anastasios Dimoschakis and members Andreas Koutsoumbas, Theodora Tzakri, Andreas Loverdos and Sofia Sakorafa. 

The Moldovan delegation also met with the Secretary General of International Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yannis Smyrlis and with the Deputy Minister of Tourism Sofia Zacharaki.

At the centre of talks was Moldova's keen interest to become an EU member, to strengthen bilateral parliamentary relations in fields such as culture and tourism, as was the impact of the war in Ukraine and the resulting refugee flows. 

The Moldovan MPs concluded their visit with a guided tour of the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum.
