Chairman of Greece-South Africa Friendship Group meets with Ambassador of South Africa
A courtesy meeting was held between the Chairman of the Greece-South Africa Parliamentary Friendship Group Yannis Loverdos and the Ambassador of South Africa Beryl Rose Sisulu.
During the meeting Mr Loverdos referred to Greece's strong links with the South African nation, as well as to the economic and social contribution of the Greek diaspora in South Africa.
Ambassador Sisulu noted the improvement in bilateral trade, as well as the utilisation of emerging opportunities in South Africa. Furthermore, she referred extensively to the emblematic figure of expatriate George Bizos, in whose honour the central square of Vasilitsi in Messinia, his birthplace, was named after.
The recent visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias to Pretoria was emphasised, as indicative of further renewal of bilateral relations.
Both sides recognised the benefit that would derive from a future exchange of visits at parliamentary level.
