- Attorney-at-law. For several years she was an official of the European institutions in Brussels, at the European Parliament, the Secretariat of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament (1991 – 1995) and the European Commission (1995 – 1999).

- Graduate of the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, she pursued postgraduate studies in Public Law – DEA at the Sorbonne University – Paris I.

- English - French.
Parliamentary Activities
She was elected Member of the Greek Parliament with SYRIZA in the 7th of July 2019 elections for the B1’North Sector of Athens Parliamentary Constituency, and has been appointed Parliamentary Spokesperson.
She is member of the Parliamentary Standing Committees on “National Defense and Foreign Affairs” and “Cultural and Educational Affairs” as well as of the “Committee for the Constitutional Revision”.
She has served as Member of the European Parliament (2004-2007) and Member of the Greek Parliament for the 2nd Parliamentary Constituency of Athens (2007-2012) with PASOK.
Political/Social Activities
Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou has served as Minister of Administrative Reconstruction in the government of Alexis Tsipras – SYRIZA (August 2018 – July 2019).
She has served as Minister of Health (2009-2010) and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, responsible for European Affairs (2010-2012).
In February 2012 she expressed her political disagreement and resigned from the Coalition Government and from PASOK.
Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou was Secretary of the National Council of PASOK (2005-2006). She participated actively in the students’ movement, in the Youth of PASOK and in PASOK.
Member of the International Affairs Bureau of PASOK’s Youth Committee (1983 – 1985) and Member of the Law School’s Students Council (1982 – 1983).
She was Member of PASOK’s National Council (2005 – 2012) and it’s Central Commission (1994 – 2005).
She served as a Deputy Secretary of the Party’s Local Government Committee (1999 – 2005) and member of the International Affairs Committee (1985 – 1999).
She was PASOK’s representative in the Socialists International (1990 – 1992) and in the Bureau of the Confederation of European Socialist Parties (1989 – 1991).
