Parliamentary Activities

• Elected MP of the SYRIZA party in the 2nd Constituency of Thessaloniki since January 2015

• From October 2015 to November 2016, he served as Parliamentary Spokesperson of SYRIZA

• From April 2016 till November 2016, he served as Chairman of the Inquiry Commission of the Parliament which was aimed at investigating the legality of the bank loans given to Political Parties and Mass Media owners

• From November 2016 till July 2019 he served as Alternate Minister for Environment and Energy of Greece, where he implemented significant reforms on waste recycling, circular economy, sustainable development, forest maps, biodiversity conservation, and climate change

• In the current (17th) parliamentary term, he is in charge of Energy and Environmental issues in the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA. He is also member of the Standing Committee on Production and Trade and of the Special Permanent Committee on Environmental Protection

• He is member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, with involvement on issues related to sustainable development, climate change, social affairs, migration and refugees

• He is member of the following friendship groups of the Hellenic Parliament: Greece-Argentina, Greece-Serbia, Greece-Egypt, Greece-Lithuania, Greece-Jordan.

Political/Social Activities

• Member of the Central Committee of SYRIZA and founding member of SYNASPISMOS (Coalition of the Left) and of SYRIZA

• Member of the municipal council of Thermi from 2006 till 2015. He served as Vice Mayor, President of the Public Consultation Committee and President of the Thermi Municipal Enterprise for Culture, Environment and Sports

• Former member of the Committee for Environment, Land Use and Infrastructure of the Central Union of Greek Municipalities (KEDE)

• Former Member of the Executive Board of the authority (body) responsible for waste management (FODSA) of the Region of Central Macedonia (2011-2014)

• Elected in the Administration Committee of Technical Chamber of Greece/Regional Section of Central Macedonia from 1997 till 2015

• Elected in the National Assembly of the Technical Chamber of Greece from 2003 till 2015.
