He is married to Natassa Ioannou who is civil engineer and they have two daughters and a son.
Profession:
Civil Engineer – Designs infrastructure and environmental protection projects.
Studies:
Civil Engineer-Engineering Consultant (hydraulic and environmental consulting) He graduated from the “Zosimea School” of Ioannina and entered the University of Patra, School of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, ranking first.
He continued his studies at the École Polytechique Fédérale de Lausanne in the city of Lausanne (EPFL) and obtained his Master in “ Maîrise de Spécialisation en Génie Urbain”. Then he obtained the certificate “Certificat en Administration des Entreprises” at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve (UCL).

French, English.

Parliamentary Activities

Elected MP (ND) for Ioannina in the general election of 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2009.
Member of the Standing Committee on Educational Affairs and the Special Standing Committee on Technology Evaluation.

Political/Social Activities

In the 1990 municipality elections he was elected as the first town councilor in the city of Ioannina.
In the April 2000 general elections he was elected as member of the Greek Parliament with the “Nea Demokratia” party in the district of Ioannina.
In the March 2004 and September 2007 general elections he was re-elected as a member of the Parliament in the district of Ioannina, ranking first among his co-candidates. Since the 10th of March 2004, he is Deputy Minister for the Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works, responsible for Environmental and Physical Planning issues.
He is a member of:
• The Technical Chamber of Greece.
• The Association Générale des Hygiénistes Techniciens Municipaux (France).
•The Fondation Jean Monnet pour l’Europe.
He has published the following books: “Proposals during my tenure in Parliament”, “Second and Third Community Support Framework: Legends and Reality”, Proposal for “the review of the Third Community Support Framework and the distribution of the Performance and Programming Reserve”.
He has translated in Greek the OECD book entitled “Mieux comprendre nos villes. Le rôle des indicateurs urbains”.
