He was born in Kavala on July 22, 1969.

He is married to Nancy Kotsafti - Lazaridis, with whom he has two daughters, Evelina and Constantine.

Journalist - Communicator. He has worked in newspapers, magazines and radio stations as an editor, editor- in-chief, managing editor and consulting editor.

Studies:

Political Science and Journalism at the College of Southeastern Europe.

Foreign Languages:

English.

Parliamentary Activities

He was elected Member of Parliament for Kavala on July 7, 2019 and he re-elected on May 21 and June 25, 2023. He is Chairman of Special Permanent Committee on Road Safety, a member of Standing Committee on Public Administration, Public Order and Justice, a member of Standing Committee on Production and Trade, a member of the Committee on state-owned enterprises, banks, public utility enterprises and social security agencies, and a member of the Committee on Parliament's Finances. He is also a member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) and Chairman of the Greek – Indonesia Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Between 2019 – 2023 he was member of the Standing Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs, the Special Permanent Committee of Greeks Abroad, the Committee on Parliament's Finances and the Inter-party Parliamentary Committee for the development of Thrace. He was also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) and member of the National Foreign Policy Council. Additionally, he was the Chairman of the Greek - UK Parliamentary Friendship Group and member of Greece - Australia and Greece - Russia Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

Political/Social Activities

He served in the Air Force as a sergeant. Makarios Lazaridis has served as an Associate for Press and Communications to the New Democracy’s President, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis for over a decade. In January 2016, he was appointed Director of New Democracy’s Press Office. In October 2017, he was appointed Communications’ Advisor to the President of New Democracy. At the same time, he undertook the responsibility of shaping New Democracy’s economic, social and communications policy for the Region of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace.
