Career Diplomat.
Graduated from the Law School of Athens University, with Degree in Political Science and Public Administration in 1978. Postgraduate Specialisation Diploma in International Institutions (Boston University/Brussels), and License Speciale in European Studies at the Institute of European Affairs of the ‘Université Libre des Bruxelles’.

Parliamentary Activities

Elected MP for Nea Demokratia at the General Elections of 1993, 2004, 2007 and 2009.

Political/Social Activities

Vice-President of the Main Opposition Nea Demokratia Party since July 2010.
In charge of Foreign Affairs and International Relations for the Nea Demokratia Party since December 2009.
President of the Organising Committee of the 2010 Party Congress.
Minister of Health and Social Solidarity between 2006 and 2009.
Minister of Tourism Development between 2004 and 2006.
Served as Mayor of Athens between 1994 and 2002, elected twice with overwhelming majority.
