President of Parliament meets with relatives of hostages abducted by Hamas
The President of the Hellenic Parliament Constantine Tassoulas met today with relatives of hostages abducted by Hamas.
The relatives were accompanied by the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Athens Noam Katz and the former Ambassador Ram Aviram.
The Ambassador of Israel, at the beginning of the meeting, explained in brief what led to the tragic events of 7 October and briefed the President on recent developments in the region.
The families of the hostages emphasised that after 7 October they have had no contact with their loved ones, nor any news on their situation, as Hamas has allowed no International Organisation to contact the hostages.
The President of the Parliament expressed his pain over the continued hostage situation and expressed the hope that they will soon be released, as has, so far, been the case with four women hostages. At the same time, he assured the families that both himself and the members of the Hellenic Parliament will use their influence and international contacts for the swift release of the hostages.
Present at the meeting were MP Anastasios Chatzivasileiou, the Diplomatic Advisor, Ambassador Constantine Economidis and the Head of the General Directorate of International and Public Relations Margarita Flouda.
