Chair of Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs meets with outgoing Ambassador of Serbia

The Chair of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, Dora Bakoyannis, met today with the outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Greece, Dušan Spasojević.

The Ambassador gave a brief update on the emerging climate of opposition in his country, as a result of the recent parliamentary election and in view of the upcoming municipal/regional elections.

Following, Mrs Bakoyannis referred to her recent visit to Kosovo, in her capacity as rapporteur for the Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), as part of a fact-finding visit on the occasion of a report on Kosovo.

"The Council of Europe is subject to inviolable human rights rules that we must follow without deviation", noted the Chair of the Committee.

Finally, the two officials confirmed the multi-level cooperation and expressed their keen interest to further strengthen the bilateral strategic relations in multiple areas.
