First Vice-President of Parliament Ioannis Plakiotakis meets with delegation from Saudi Arabia's Shura Council

The First Vice-President, Mr Ioannis Plakiotakis, met with a delegation of the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia, headed by its Vice-President, His Excellency Dr Mishaal Al-Salami, which is paying a two-day visit to Athens within the framework of a reciprocal invitation by the Hellenic Parliament.

Emphasising the paramount importance of deepening relations between the two countries and the contribution of parliamentary diplomacy to this effort, Mr I. Plakiotakis, referring to the particularities of the current geopolitical environment, expressed the view that contacts between Greece and Saudi Arabia contribute to the consolidation of peace, security, and respect for international law, both in the neighborhood of the two countries and more broadly. This role is further strengthened by Saudi Arabia’s initiatives to normalise relations among Middle Eastern states and promote peace in the wider region, within the framework of the implementation of “Vision 2030.”
