Chair of National Defence and Foreign Affairs Committee meets with Ambassador of New Zealand

The Chair of the Hellenic Parliament's Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs Dora Bakoyannis met today at the Parliament with the Ambassador of New Zealand Jacqueline Anna Frizelle. 

The Ambassador briefed Mrs Bakoyannis on current political developments in New Zealand, following the recent elections, and described as excellent the relations between the two countries, in spite of the geographical distance not favouring the frequent exchange of meetings and visits. 

The Chairperson of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs referred to the special ties between Greece and New Zealand that were forged through joint struggles during the two World Wars. 

Lastly, the two sides expressed their satisfaction with the mutual support for the candidacies of Greece and New Zealand to the UN Security Council.
