IAO Secretary General Maximos Charakopoulos meets with Vice-President of Bavarian State Parliament - International campaign for Hagia Sophia goes to Munich

“The case of Hagia Sophia does not only concern Christians, but the entire civilised world. Hagia Sophia is a monument recognised by UNESCO as part of the world cultural heritage. I am happy because in Bavaria we are opening doors by raising the issue, but also for the common understanding of the crisis experienced by European societies, which in the name of multiculturalism and the integration of people with a cultural background completely foreign to European values, renounce their Christian roots”. Those were the words of Dr Maximos Charakopoulos, member of the Hellenic Parliament and Secretary General of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy, following his meeting with the Vice-President of the Bavarian State Parliament Tobias Reiß.

The meeting took place in the framework of the IAO cross-party parliamentary delegation official visit  to Munich, consisting of Dr Charakopoulos, Mr Panikos Leonidou , MP of Cyprus, Mr Mile Talevski, MP of North Macedonia and the advisor to the IAO Dr Kostas Mygdalis.
