Chair of National Defence and Foreign Affairs Committee meets with Ambassador of France

The chairperson of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament Dora Bakoyannis met with the Ambassador of France to Athens Laurence Auer on 30 October 2023. 

During the meeting the two sides reaffirmed the strong links of friendship between the two peoples and expressed their satisfaction with the excellent cooperation in many fields, with special emphasis on the signing of the Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two countries. 

Mrs Dora Bakoyannis and Mrs Laurence Auer exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East, emphasising how critical the situation is, and agreed that cooperation and a coordination of diplomatic efforts is needed to provide solutions for the protection of civilians and the prevailing of peace in the region. 

The Chairperson of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament and the Ambassador of France stressed the importance of parliamentary cooperation, which can further strengthen the bonds between the two countries, especially through the Friendship Groups of the two Parliaments.
