Chair of Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs meets with Chargé d' affaires of Ukrainian Embassy

The Chair of the Hellenic Parliament's Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, Dora Bakoyannis, had a courtesy meeting today in the Parliament with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Ukrainian Embassy in Athens, Volodymyr Liashenko.

During their brief bilateral meeting, the Committee Chairperson, upon accepting the Ukrainian diplomat’s congratulatory wishes over Dr. Theodoros Roussopoulos’ recent, unanimous election to the office of President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, stressed the importance of the Assembly member-states’ existing close cooperation with the Ukrainian side, especially during the current challenging circumstances. In the same context, she informed Mr Volodymyr Liashenko about the upcoming visit to Ukraine of the Committee's Vice-Chair, Stefanos Gikas.

The Ukrainian official communicated to Mrs Bakoyannis a request by her counterpart from the respective Committee of the Supreme Council of Ukraine to hold a bilateral online meeting, also highlighting the need to organise field visits by Greek officials to Ukraine.
