Event marking Google's 15 years in Greece

Last night an event marking the 15-year anniversary of Google’s presence in Greece took place at the former Public Tobacco Factory, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Parliament ConstantineTassoulas, with the participation of the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Before a large audience attending the event at the Atrium, also in the presence of government ministers and representatives of the business, political and press sectors, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis discussed with Google's VP of Engineering & Research Yossi Matias the best prospects for the use of Artificial Intelligence  (AI) in socially-beneficial fields, such as the promotion of our cultural heritage,  the transformation of health services, the upgrading of the educational  system, the prediction of extreme natural phenomena and the prevention of natural disasters, while also touching upon ethical issues emerging due to the multidimensional and rapid development of AI. Mrs Peggy Antonakou, General Manager of Google Southeast Europe moderated the discussion.

The former Public Tobacco Factory on Lenorman Street, which has been fully acquired by the Hellenic Parliament since 2000 and houses some of its services, has in the recent years, following an aesthetic and functional renovation, hosted high-level actions and events, with a distinct qualitative imprint on the cultural, intellectual and educational life of the capital and beyond.
