Meeting of Chair of Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs with Ambassador of Argentina

The Chairperson of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament Dora Bakoyannis met today with tha Ambassador of Argentina to Athens Luis Alfredo Azpiazu. 

In view of the celebration of the 150-year anniversary of diplomatic relations with Argentina in 2024, the Ambassador briefed Mrs Bakoyannis on current political developments and the economic situation in his country, where elections are coming up. 

Mrs Bakoyannis stressed that Greece and Argentina share a historical link of friendship and mutual respect, noting that there are significant prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in many fields, thanking Mr Azpiazu for the support for the Greek candidacy to the UN Security Council as an elected non-permanent member for 2025-2026. 

During the meeting it was established that there is a convergence of views on bilateral and international issues, while both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation, through contacts and the exchange of visits both at parliamentary and government level.
