Chair of Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs meets with Ambassador of Poland
The Chair of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament, Dora Bakoyannis, met today with the Ambassador of Poland to Athens, Artur Lompart.
Mr Bakoyannis expressed her satisfaction over the electoral results in Poland and her conviction that the friend-country is "back in Europe". She also added that the new government will have to move swiftly on fundamental European reforms and work to strengthen the rule of law and the respect of human rights in order to make up for lost ground. Mrs Bakoyannis referred to the traditionally good Greece-Poland relations and emphasised the importance of the two countries' cooperation not only in the context of the Three Seas Initiative, but also on issues of migration, infrastructure and tourism.
The Ambassador of Poland referred to the importance attached by his country to the Three Seas Initiative and the Via Carpatia and his country's satisfaction over the deepening of cooperation with Greece. Mr Lompart then informed Mrs Bakoyannis that Poland's Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, intends to visit Greece and conveyed the latter's wish to meet with members of the Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament.
