Chair of Committee on Greeks Abroad Filippos Fortomas meets with French MP Marietta Karamanli

A meeting with Mrs Marietta Karamanli, MP of Greek origin, Chair of the France-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group and member of the World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association (WHIA), was held today at the Parliament by the Chair of the Special Permanent Committee on Greeks Abroad, MP for Cyclades Mr Filippos Fortomas.

The discussion was held in a very good climate, while there were proposals from both sides regarding the promotion of the Greek and French language, history and culture in both countries, through the cooperation of the competent Ministers of Education. At the same time, Mr Fortomas pointed out the need for deepening philhellenism within the French society, which will most certainly contribute further to the strengthening of bilateral relations. For her part, Mrs Karamanli spoke of the traditionally good relations between France and Greece and expressed her will and commitment to work towards even closer cooperation between the two countries.
