Meeting of Medical Services of EU Parliaments at Hellenic Parliament

The 2nd Meeting of the EU27+ Parliaments' Medical Services, i.e. of the Parliaments of the 27 EU member states and of the European Parliament, with the participation of the United Kingdom and Norway, is taking place at the Hellenic Parliament. It is the first time this meeting is held at a national parliament, as the 1st Meeting took place at the European Parliament following an initiative by its medical services. The Meeting is taking place from 28 to 29 September in the Senate Hall of the Hellenic Parliament, with twenty participants from the aforementioned parliaments. 

The President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola addressed the organisers and participants via a video message that was transmitted during the opening session. The Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Social Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament Vassileios Economou delivered the opening address. 

The newly-established EU 27+ National Parliaments and European Parliament Medical Services Network aims to promote the exchange of views regarding best practices and the coordination of joint actions on health-related issues in parliaments. The 2nd Meeting aims to provide further impetus for the operationand structure of the network, which is why the agenda includes talks on the promotion of health in parliaments, working in groups to outline in greater detail the identity, vision and goals of the network, as well as a workshop on organising joint actions on a Health Awareness Day, on a particulare health-related subject, at the parliaments of the EU member states.
