During the meeting and on the occasion of the 75 years since the recognition of Indonesia's independence by Greece, Mr Lazaridis emphasised the strong links that have been developed between the two countries and are strengthened by the Action Plan promoting economic cooperation, which was signed in May 2023, for the period of 2023 - 2028, by the Foreign Affairs Ministers of the two countries. Reference was also made to the 9th OUR OCEAN CONFERENCE that will be held in Greece in April 2024, which will address the global challenges of the oceans, the seas and the climate, and to the invitation by the Greek Prime Minister for a delegation from Indonesia to participate. Furthermore, the participants noted the possibility to develop, mainly the commercial relations, between the EU and ASEAN member states.

Both sides emphatically stressed their commitment to International Law and the Convention of the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), with special reference to the ongoing war in the Middle East and the bombing of the Indonesian hospital in Gaza.

Mr Dimoschakis, identifying the need to further deepen relations between the two countries, referred to the need for support, on behalf of Indonesia, of the Greek positions in the issues pertaining to Greece-Turkey relations.
