Statement by Hellenic Parliament President Constantine Tassoulas on illumination of Parliament building with colours of flag of Israel

The Hellenic Parliament is illuminated tonight with the flag of the State of Israel, in a show of support towards the Israeli people following the inhumane terrorist attacks by Hamas. The President of the Hellenic Parliament Constantine Tassoulas made the following statement: 

“Along with other European Parliaments and emblematic public and non-public buildings that were illuminated with the flag of Israel, the Hellenic Parliament is tonight illuminated with that very flag, to express both human support and fierce condemnation. Support especially to the civilian population, who are not being respected even after being brutally murdered in an unprecedented show of hatred by Hamas and condemnation of a violent and unfathomably inhumane attack on a State, which resorts to its inalienable right to self-defence. Tonight, we do not just illuminate with the flag of Israel, but through it, with the right to national sovereignty, to human dignity and, finally, with the right to hope for peace, a hope that in spite of everything needs to not be irrevocably lost.”
