Interparliamentary meeting of Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) of European Parliament in Brussels

 

The proceedings of the two-day Interparliamentary meeting organised by the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) of the European Parliament in Brussels, on the 27th and the 28th of November on the topic: "European Citizenship Education" have been completed. It was attended by members of the European Parliament, members of National Parliaments, representatives of the European Commission, UNESCO institutions and the Council of Europe.

The Hellenic Parliament was represented by MP and Chair of the Standing Committee on Cultural and Educational Affairs Christos Kellas.

At the meeting participated as key speakers, the Chair of the Committee on Culture and Education of the EP Mrs Sabine VERHEYEN, the Minister of Education of Spain José Manuel Bar CENDÓN (representing the Spanish Presidency of the EU Council), who outlined the main points of the Council conclusions regarding the contribution of education and training in strengthening the common European values and democratic citizenship, and the Director-General of the European Commission Pia AHRENKILDE HANSEN. During the two days of work, the participants intervened in four sessions and exchanged views and ideas on best practices.
