Meeting of Secretary General of Hellenic Parliament with President of House of Representatives of Republic of Cyprus

With the President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, Annita Demetriou, met the Secretary General of the Hellenic Parliament, George Mylonakis, who is on a working visit in Cyprus.

During the meeting, the excellent relations between the Legislative Bodies of Greece and Cyprus and the prospect of their further deepening at the administrative level were noted.

Earlier, the Secretary General of the Hellenic Parliament and the Director General of the House of Representatives Tasoula Ieronymidou, signed a memorandum of cooperation for the administrative cooperation of the two Parliaments.  

This was followed by a discussion on future synergies between the House of Representatives of Cyprus and the Hellenic Parliament, while there was an exchange of views on the current challenges facing the two Bodies and the parliamentary institution in general.

The meeting covered the procedures and practices followed by the two Bodies, both in the production of legislative work and in the exercise of parliamentary diplomacy. Finally, there was a discussion concerning the need to strengthen participatory democracy and the active participation of citizens in public affairs.

Mr Mylonakis is accompanied by a seven-member delegation of officials of the Hellenic Parliament.
