Meeting of Chairman of Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs with UAE-based HEDAYAH Centre

The Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs Konstantinos Gioulekas met today with Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the UAE Federal National Council for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and President of the UAE-based Hedayah Centre (for countering phenomena of violence and extremism). 

During the meeting the excellent relations between the two countries were confirmed, as well as their upgrade to strategic relations, with the signing of the Joint Declaration on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Greece and the UAE and the Cooperation Agreements on Foreign Policy and Defence issues. 

Referring to Turkey’s aggressiveness, Mr. Gioulekas stressed that it is not just a Greece-Turkey issue but a Europe-Turkey one and pointed out that issues should always be resolved according to International Law.

Other issues that were raised were terrorism and how to counter it, as well as the issue of illegal migration. 

Lastly, the two sides agreed to follow up on the constructive cooperation by convening online meetings of the two Committees.
