Meeting of Standing Committee of South-East European Cooperation Process Parliamentary Assembly (SEECP PA)

The meeting of the Standing Committee of the South-East European Cooperation Process Parliamentary Assembly (SEECP PA) took place in Skopje, in the Republic of North Macedonia.
The Hellenic Parliament was represented by the Deputy Chair of the Greek delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly, MP Konstantinos Karagounis.
At the opening of the meeting, the agenda was adopted and following the priorities of the Skopje Presidency (July 2023-July 2024) were presented, as well as the objectives and priorities of the SEE2030 Strategy.
The Deputy Chair of the Greek delegation to the PA, MP Konstantinos Karagounis, in his intervention stressed the importance of the Assembly and its decisive role in promoting good neighbourly relations between the East European countries. "The commitment to regional cooperation, with a focus on the rule of law, security, and the economy, underscores our shared vision for a stable and prosperous South-Eastern Europe," he stated.
He also stressed that it is impossible to ignore the disturbing current developments that permeate the global landscape, from the armed conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine to the refugee and economic crisis, pointing out that we find ourselves in a world that is in dire need of respect for human life and human rights.
He underlined the importance of the 2003 Thessaloniki agenda, which seeks to strengthen stability and security and the development of the Western Balkan region supporting steadily and actively the European perspective of the Western Balkans as a strategic goal.
