President of Hellenic Parliament meets with Ambassador of Australia to Greece

The President of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr Nikitas Kaklamanis, met today with the Ambassador of Australia to Greece, Ms Alison Joy Duncan.
“Our meeting today, Madam Ambassador,” the President of the Parliament noted, “takes place during a turbulent period for the Middle East and the wider region, and we all hope that this war will come to an end as soon as possible.”
“Today I also have the pleasure and the honour to inform you about the adoption of the bill on postal voting for Greeks abroad in national elections, which took place on Tuesday, 4 March,” the President of the Parliament continued. “As you know, a significant number of members of the Greek diaspora live in Australia, and facilitating Greeks around the world to participate in parliamentary elections is particularly important for the Greek state,” he stressed.
The President of the Parliament also pointed out that “despite the geographical distance that separates us, the two countries have forged, over the years, a stable and long-standing friendship, and the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Australia demonstrates the importance we attach to our bilateral relationship.”
