Meeting of Chairman of Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of Hellenic Parliament with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro

The Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, Konstantinos Gioulekas, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Dorde Radulović, in the framework of the Minister’s official visit to Greece.

During the meeting, Mr. Gioulekas confirmed the firm will of Greece for the rapid integration of the Western Balkans in the EU and referred to the milestone in Greek and European efforts, namely the adoption of the Thessaloniki Agenda of the European Council meeting by the same name in 2003. Our country, he added, is working on the European integration of the Western Balkans, as we are fully convinced that the future of the entire region lies within a stable, strong and united Europe. Mr. Gioulekas added that he hopes the New Enlargement Methodology will contribute to deepening and strengthening the enlargement process in the case of Serbia and Montenegro. 

For his part, Mr. Radulović underlined the importance that Montenegro attaches to the support our country provides on Montenegro’s path towards EU accession and expressed his country’s intention to further strengthen the ties of friendship with Greece. The Foreign Minister of Montenegro pointed out that there are great prospects for the two countries to cooperate in the field of energy, transport, infrastructure and tourism.
