Chairman of National Defence and Foreign Affairs Committee meets with Ambassador of Cuba

The Chairman of the National Defence and Foreign Affairs Committee Konstantinos Gioulekas met today at the Hellenic Parliament with the Ambassador of Cuba Aramis Fuente Hernández. During the meeting they discussed the main political issues of concern to the two countries, looked into various aspects of the bilateral relations and submitted proposals to further enhance relations between Greece and Cuba. 

Mr Gioulekas made positive remarks vis-à-vis the reforms that are being promoted in Cuba, made a detailed presentation of our country's position on Greece-Turkey issues and the war in Ukraine, noted the positive climate in bilateral cooperation between Greece and Cuba in the fields of sports and culture and pointed out that there is great room to increase trade cooperation. 

For his part, Mr Hernández, inter alia, presented the way in which Cuba successfully addressed the pandemic with vaccines of its own, made extensive reference to the economic hardships the country faces and thanked Greece for its positive and constructive stance towards the people of Cuba, particularly as it is expressed through the UN General Assembly resolutions.
