Participation of Parliament in work of Legal and Political Affairs Committee of Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC)

The 61st Meeting of the Legal and Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organisation was held today via teleconference. In the work of the Committee participated MPs Konstantinos Vlasis, head of the Greek delegation, and Christos Giannoulis, as well as the other delegations of the member states of the Assembly.

The main topic of discussion at the meeting was the role of the parliaments in strengthening economic security in the PABSEC Member States. Mr Vlasis in his intervention underlined that the policies and measures taken are aiming to relieve households from the increases in energy and fuel and the inflation in basic goods. He stressed that the Greek government continuously strengthens the measures taken to support society by reducing taxes for households and businesses, raising the minimum wage and increasing pensions by 7.75% as of this year. In addition, he noted the implementation of a strong programme of structural changes that gives incentives for business growth, such as the increased deduction for expenditure related to the green economy, energy and digitalisation. Concluding, he stated that it is important for the BSEC member states to build strategic partnerships in order to face economic and social crises and challenges such as those that we are currently facing.
