Hellenic Parliament represented at Inter-Parliamentary Meeting of European Parliament LIBE Committee on the Rule of Law

In the inter-parliamentary meeting of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Parliament and the national parliaments of the EU, regarding the state of the rule of law in the Union, participated the MPs Anna Mani Papadimitriou and Ioannis - Michail (Giannis) Loverdos members of the Committee on Public Administration, Public Order and Justice, and Ioannis Bournous, member of the European Affairs Committee of the Greek Parliament.

In the meeting, which took place on 1 December 2022 at the European Parliament in Brussels, participated as the main speakers the Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders and the Czech Minister of European Affairs Mikuláš Bek, representing the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU. They gave a brief account on the results of the third annual report on the rule of law adopted by the European Commission in July 2022 and on the future actions of the institutions for the protection of democratic freedoms within the EU.

MPs and MEPs exchanged views with regard to the future course of the Instrument for Democracy, the Rule of Law and the Fundamental Rights, as well as on the role of the European Parliament and the national parliaments within the framework of the EU’s efforts to protect and enforce the values of the Union.
