Meeting of Chairman of Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of Hellenic Parliament with Armenia Parliament delegation in Athens

The Chairman of the Hellenic Parliament National Defence and Foreign Affairs Committee Konstantinos Gioulekas met today with a six-member delegation of the Armenian Parliament in Athens, headed by Mr Arman Yeghoyan, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Armenia in Athens Mr Tigran Mkrtchyan.
The two sides initially referred to the two countries’ strong spiritual and cultural ties and their long-standing relations of trust and mutual support.
Armenia firmly supports our country's positions in international fora and also appreciates Greece's support in its cooperation with the EU and NATO.
Referring to Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, Mr Gioulekas emphasised Greece's support for the rights of displaced Armenians, the release of prisoners and the finding of a just solution that will guarantee both the rights of the Armenian people and the Armenian state.
Closing, the Chairman of the National Defence Committee highlighted the great power of Greek Diaspora in both countries and especially the Greek expatriates’ important contribution to the Republic of Armenia.
