Meeting of delegation of German Parliament with MP Giannis Kefalogiannis

A delegation of the German Parliament, headed by MP and former Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn, met with MP for Rethymno Giannis Kefalogiannis, a member of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, in the context of the delegation's visit to Greece, under the auspices of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Mr Kefalogiannis, responding to relevant questions, informed the German delegation on the state of the Greek economy and pointed out that over the last three years and until the end of 2023, a 30% reduction is expected in the public debt in relation to the GDP, a reduction in unemployment from 17% to 11% and a growth rate close to 6%.
Referring to the relations between Greece and Turkey, he stressed that the only existing difference with the neighbouring country is the delimitation of the continental shelf and the exclusive economic zone in the Aegean Sea and the Southeastern Mediterranean, expressing the view that the developments in the energy sector could serve as fertile ground for an understanding between Greece, Cyprus and Turkey.
The German delegation was previously given a tour of the exhibition “Beholding Liberty! At the Hellenic Parliament, two centuries later”.
