Meeting of Chair of Greece–Sweden Parliamentary Friendship Group with Ambassador of Sweden to Greece

The Chair of the Greece–Sweden Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mr Stavros Papasotiriou, met today at the Hellenic Parliament with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Greece, Mr Håkan Emsgård.

During the meeting, Mr Papasotiriou underscored the shared willingness to further strengthen cooperation in the field of inter-parliamentary activities, on the basis of the common principles and values that link the two countries within the European Union, NATO, and the United Nations. In particular, within the framework of the United Nations, the close cooperation between Greece and Sweden was highlighted, with emphasis placed on the safeguarding of international law and human rights, as well as on the Cyprus issue, which was described as an “open wound” for a Europe founded on humanitarianism and culture.
